Fursuit Color combo's/Concept art???

Hey, so lately I've been having a LOT of trouble coming up with a fursuit design. Please anyone with costume design could help me. I'm not the best designer(or drawer) and if anyone can give me some tips that would be great! or draw something. I really do like Hogwash Husky's design with the stripes from the arm to the tail(if you don't know just look it up :), but I don't want to "COMPLETELY" copy his suit with different colors. Would it be okay to do like an abstract version of his suit the add stuff on?(if you change something 15% it's okay, right?) I just need to think of smaller designs. I was thinking of X's cause they would look cool a
